I love this place, one of my favorites. The sushi and sashimi are always fresh. Oddly, they do not do sushi on Sunday.
Fast service and good food, wasn't a huge deal of the eel roll as I have had better eel at other places but enjoyed the chicken.
I would high recommend the 92 chicken here. Their Korean fried chicken is the best we have had in HR. The wings are big and crispy. We tried the original, soy garlic and sweet onion cream chicken. They were all good. Sushi is average or subpar
I've been to Sushi Mama a couple times, but this most recent visit was phenomenal My friend had visited recently and recommended their Korean chicken so I was intrigued We ordered the salmon ball, fried shrimp shumai, a volcano roll, shrimp tempura udon, 10 honey garlic chicken wings, and the pork katsu which comes with miso soup and a salad. I enjoy the salmon ball-resembling the one that bonchon used to serve but better! I love that the salmon on top is seared with a torch. The volcano roll was portioned well. The pieces weren't too big and there was a good amount. There wasn't a lot of shumai but each piece was delicious. I tried to hog them all tbh. I probably should've ordered more than one but we figured that we ordered enough food to go around. The chicken comes in a 10 piece for one flavor or a combo where you can choose 3 flavors. They were juicy on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside. Same with the pork katsu! I just wish it came with another scoop of rice. The surprise star of the show was the shrimp tempura udon! If you've ever had Filipino bulalo (bone marrow) soup, the depth and flavor reminded me of that! The soup had so much umami, the noodles were perfect, the pepper was just the right amount. I found a new go to whenever I want really good soup! The space is small and intimate. It's nice and quiet. Best for solo dates to groups of 4, maybe 6 if sat at the tables around the entrance. Service is sweet. We were well taken care of and our needs were met. The highlight of the experience was the food lol
I dunno why it was empty because this Korean fried chicken was GREAT. I got the tenders and LOVE. I went curry. Not exactly spicy but ya, it's curry! I wish I could have ordered more but flying solo was limiting. Tons of options so I suggest you go with a few people and share. It was very clean. And I plan to go back!!
My 2nd time here I ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap, 4. Garlic Spicy Chicken and Korean Seafood Pancake. Everything tasted great, the pancake was large and flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the chicken tenders and they were cooked well and nicely sauced. The bibimbap was great as well, the meat and veggies was seasoned well and also came with a side salad and miso soup. I will definitely order from here again.
Anytime I get a chance, I will always choose to go here! Things I've had at Sushi Mama: - Soy Garlic Fried Chicken - KFC is a new addition to the menu and this one is extra crispy. Came with picked radish - Sashimi Regular (18pcs.) & Deluxe (20pcs.) - freshest seafood each and everytime I've visited! - Salmon Ball - a must get! - Korean Seafood Pancake - one of, if not THE BEST in the area. - Korean Sushi Bowl - this was served with Korean traditional sweet-spicy-tangy sauce. Mix altogether with the sauce and you get a bibimbap seafood bowl. Very refreshing! - Spicy Seafood Noodle - this is a very good soup with just the right kick. - Bibimbap and Japchae - ordered these to-go and it was plenty! Came with miso soup and salad In my experience, you can't go wrong with anything you get at Sushi Mama. Everything is always fresh and the staff are top notch! On my next visit, I will try the YangNyeom Fried Chicken and Sunomono
Found this place when searching for food places near my hotel. Ratings were great and the place was less than a mile from where I was staying. I arrived for dinner and was seated immediately as there wasn't many people. I ordered two yellow fin rolls, a tempura roll and something called a Dragon Fly Roll. I was very surprised as they all were delicious. The Dragon Fly Roll was the star. When the waiter brought it to me it looked like they gave me the whole dragon without the head - this roll had its own zip code (price at first seems high but it was well worth it). It didn't disappoint as not only did I get my fill for this year and next year of eel - but it was just delicious. Found my new favorite sushi place and highly recommend. The waiter and the sushi chef were both friendly and comical. Made my dinner experience even more enjoyable I highly recommend this sushi place. I will come again when I am in Virginia Beach.
Originally I stopped by for sushi (on the way to the interstate), but was pleasantly surprised to see Korean food on the menu. Since sushi places are a dime a dozen in these parts, whereas Korean spots are not, I decided to go with a Korean dish for this feeding. For my dining pleasure (and based on the waiter's recommendation), I went with the Spicy Pork Bulgogi, and it was pretty darn delicious. The entree was accompanied with a salad and miso soup for about $17, which is not a bad deal. The food came out fast and hot, and the service was pretty top notch. All in all, this random adventure turned out quite nice. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to visit again.
